Lets go outside

What is everybody up to today? It is defiantly a cold Autumn day but why not wrap up warm and get outside. You could go for a walk, go on a bug hunt, go bird watching, go to the park, go and splash in puddles, go to the seaside- the world is your child's playground!

I'd love to hear what you and your little ones get up to, so be sure to let us know and share your ideas by leaving a comment below.

Inspiration- 1000 homes of happiness

When I first began exploring the world of blogging I soon came across one called
I remember spending a number of hours going through the blog, looking at all the pictures of the 3 beautiful little girls, the photos of gorgeous landscapes and just general loveliness! Kellie, the founder of 1000 Homes of Happiness has created a world on the web that her children are not only greatly involved in, but one which will last forever. In years to come, when they are grown ups themselves, they will be able to look at this world and see the time, love and commitment Kellie put into their childhood.  I decided there and then to start my own world on the web for George. One where he can see the things we did, the games we played and the times we spent together as a family. I also decided that someday, I would like to release a 'happy home' of my own. After emailing Kellie my request, she came up with a word to put on a Happy Home. It didn't go quite to plan, but as you will see in an up and coming post, I think it worked out perfectly in the end. So go and check out 1000 Homes of Happiness. It will bring a smile to your face and a happiness to your heart xoxo

Some Words of Wisdom

I haven't got round to loading up the photos from last weekend's play, so in the mean time, I thought I'd share a few words of wisdom........

Mess?
Mummy, don't be afraid
to let me to draw, build or paint.
I need to touch, feel and explore,
even if some might fall on the floor.
I hear your intake of breath,
when I reach for that squidgy mess.
I stop and wait,
so forget what I was about to create.
Oh Mummy can't you see,
it really makes me want to scream.
Picasso didn't have this trouble,
he was allowed to mix and muddle.
So please refrain and let me be,
so I can discover the world around me.

Frankly Mr Franklin, I couldn't agree more!

"We do not stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing".

Benjamin Franklin

I came across this quote many years ago when studying but had forgotten all about it until I started doing this blog. As I've already said, part of starting this blog is to make sure that I take some time out every week and play with George. I'm not talking about getting a game out or doing a puzzle type play, I'm talking open ended, creative, on my hands and knees type play.

This quote speaks volumes to me, so, next time, instead of going to the chemist for anti-ageing cream, I'll be going for shaving foam for George and I to whip up some 'cakes' or whatever else we fancy...... I'll be sure to post some pictures x

WARNING- Look what can happen in said chemist when you take your eyes of them for a minute....

Not sure what the exact shade of tester was that he tried, but I think it quite suits him, don't you?!
